WQED / Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:  With the loss of major national underwriters, WQED faced significant debt.  In fact, when they decided to retain TeamSoper, they wondered how they would pay for its services.  During a break in the PBS Development Conference, Michael Soper wrote

special direct mail appeal to  share the urgent need for support with WQED members.  While widely debated amongst its management team, they elected to go forward with TeamSoper's recommended copy.  The result was the most successful direct mail appeal in the station's history ... and record that still stands today.

Overall, TeamSoper assignments included a Joint Fundraising Review, acquisition mailings, new renewal series, additional / special gift appeals, and renewal direct marketing, using both direct mail and telemarketing.  TeamSoper also energized the station's efforts to secure bequests and wrote grant proposals that secured substantial in-kind gifts of software.
