Michael B. Soper, Sr. VP, Development at PBS

Michael's goal was to strengthen the financial capacity and stability of all PBS member stations nationwide.  Budget responsibilities exceeded $7 million and included the Station Independence Program, PBS Development Services, the National Auction Service, and the National Corporate Support Service.

Demonstrated superior skills in team building, strategic planning, research, consulting, improving customer service, motivational and public speaking, successful large-scale conferences/meetings.  Team was routinely recognized in formal evaluations by PBS member stations for providing important services and highly satisfied customers.

In 1991, assembled an industry-wide panel of fourteen top Board members from three national organizations to review funding trends and recommend specific strategies for increasing individual, corporate, foundation, and government funding of public television.  Titled, “Funding The Vision,” the report is still used by PBS stations nationwide as the centerpiece of their fundraising strategic plans.

During his years, Soper's team published 26 how-two notebooks on all areas of fundraising  for station development professionals.
